3 Advantages Of Entering The Ayn Rand Anthem Essay Contest

by Beth Bowman

Ayn Rand is known worldwide as an author of several novels. To keep her legacy alive, the Ayn Rand Scholar List connects with students all over the globe. As part of the initiative, students have the opportunity to participate in an essay contest with an essay based on one of her novels.

Students in eighth grade and above can enter the contest. One of the three essay contests to consider is based on the book Anthem. Check out some of the advantages of entering the contest, winning a prize, and becoming an Ayn Rand Scholar.

1. Book Length

When compared to her other novels, Anthem is one of the shortest Ayn Rand books. At just 56 pages in length, the book gives you the opportunity to read over sections, take notes, and go through the whole copy multiple times if needed. Other essay contests include books like Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead.

Atlas Shrugged is over 1,000 pages long and The Fountainhead is over 700 pages long. If this is your first essay contest, then the Anthem content provides an easier stepping stone and allows you to truly master and understand the content.

2. Repeat Entries

The Anthem essay contest is open to students in eighth grade all the way to twelfth grade. With the wide range of grades, you have the opportunity to enter the contest each year. The contest includes detailed essay grading so you can receive feedback, make improvements, and then enter the essay contest again the following year.

The entry process allows you to improve your writing skills and increase your chances of winning. Other contests have a more limited entry option so you do not get chances to improve your writing and enter as many times.

3. Free Book Options

Along with options at a local library, the essay contest will send out digital copies of Anthem to students who enter the contest. With a free digital version, you can read through the book as much as you need to, add digital notes, and bookmark pages. You do not need to worry about a library due date or returning the book.

A digital version of the book also gives you the opportunity to read the contents at any time. You can read while on the bus, in the car, or in other locations. With easy access, you can go over the text again and again to help form ideas for an essay.

Once you get through the essay process once, you can develop a strategy to enter future contests and seek out a place on the Ayn Rand scholar list.

About Me

Colleges Aren't the Only Places That Offer Higher Education

After I graduated from high school, I went straight to college, even though I was very unsure of what career field I wanted to enter. I completed my four years and earned a degree that helped me secure a job relatively quickly. However, I soon learned that the career I chose was unfulfilling for me, but the thought of going back to learn something new just seemed too overwhelming. I wanted to enter the field of healthcare, and one day I got a flyer in the mail from a local nursing school that offered certificate programs that only took a year to complete. I felt like it was "fate," and I was soon enrolled in evening classes. I really like helping others, so I want to help others make good educational decisions. I plan to post tips for people of all ages on my new education blog!
